BGI Americas Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Cambridge, MA and Shenzhen, China – On April 27, BGI hosted a festive celebration in Boston, Massachusetts to commemorate the one-year anniversary of BGI Americas and express appreciation to BGI’s valued collaborators, friends and associates. Held at the Hampshire House, a turn-of-the-century mansion on historic Beacon Hill, the anniversary celebration was attended by approximately 100 guests from Merck & Co., Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Novartis, Sanofi-Aventis, Biogen-Idec, Astrazeneca, New England Biolabs, Harvard Medical School, MIT, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, NYU Langone Medical Center, Boston University, University of California-Davis, University of Ottawa, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, etc.

Prof. Huanming Yang, Co-founder and Chairman of BGI, welcomed the guests with a toast expressing appreciation to friends and supporters who have contributed to the success of BGI and BGI Americas. Prof. Yang also gave a presentation highlighting BGI’s history, progress and future vision. Dr. Greg Wang, Executive Vice President of BGI Americas also offered welcoming remarks.

Other key representatives of BGI Americas included Yuqing Jiang, Chief Operating Officer; Don Benson, Senior Director of Sales, Eastern Region; Dr. Nong Chen, Director of Sales; Xu Zhang, Senior Director or Operations; Dr. Lili Niu, Applications Science Manager; Dr. Bicheng Yang, Global Marketing Director, BGI; and Dr. Joyce Peng, Marketing Director of BGI Americas, who served as master of ceremonies for the event.

The evening’s entertainment included an artful sand painting created by Mr. Dabao Su and narrated by Jenny Weng of BGI Americas, depicting the evolution of genomics and BGI’s history contributions. An uplifting video presented provided a present-day look at BGI, its facilities, employees and ongoing scientific activities.
